With each passing day it becomes more and more clear that mobile marketing is taking a larger piece of the search traffic with the explosion in smart devices for consumers. For many sitting down to a desk top computer or laptop has been replaced by using a smart device like a mobile phone or device like an iPad or similar device.

According to an article in BusinessWorld:

According to a study by the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and Lightspeed Research, 25 percent of consumers are more likely to respond to advertising, whether it’s print, online or outdoor, “if they are able to do so via a mobile response,” the publication reported.

One of the reasons that mobile marketing is so effective is the information is highly targeted to consumers with a clear call to action. The mobile user is ready to make a purchasing decision when they use their mobile device to find and locate where the product they want is right now.

If your business isn’t engaged with mobile advertising then you need to ask yourself where your customers are going to find you. If you aren’t where they are searching then they simply won’t find you.

In these economic times you need to be where your customers are looking, or you won’t be anywhere soon enough.

Today, more than ever, an effective presence on the internet is crucial to the success of any business, whether it is online or a brick and mortar storefront.

Often it is difficult to come up with an idea for building an online business, but it needn’t be. There are so many ways to find something to build a site on that has good traffic and little competition.

All it takes is a little work and some research. Start by thinking about what you are interested in. This is because if you are interested with a subject, you are more likely to stick with it.

One of the mistakes most new internet marketers make is to constantly change their mind and chase the latest “hot” topic, never really spending the time and effort to develop one good, and profitable, web site.

You might wonder what is the difference between markets, niches and micro niches, and why does it matter? The answer may surprise you.

It is easy to look around our home and see things that we buy, recognize a lot of people by the same thing, and think that is a good market to go into. But usually those items are in mature markets where the competition is stiff.

Another mistake new internet marketers make is trying to compete with a large online store. Forget it, you will get crushed. Rather, pick a small market with good traffic, little competition and which you can carve out a “niche” for yourself.

That’s where the money is!

The following two videos have some great ideas about how to find a market you might be interested in, and suggests that you start out by choosing 7 topics that might be of interest for you.

This is because not all of your ideas will have adequate traffic and commerciality, so you need to have enough good ideas to choose from.

Enjoy!

We are all aware of the banners we see on websites all over the internet, and we have seen those advertisements on the right hand side of the page when we search for something on the internet. You may have even noticed those text ads stuck inside of pages of content we read on the internet.

These are all advertisements, some by merchants and others by affiliate marketers. We have also clicked on some of the results on a page and have been taken to a website promoting exactly what it is that we were looking for on the internet.

Sometimes we are taken to a website owned and operated by the merchant selling the product we were looking for, other times it is a website owned and operated by an independent business person promoting the product. These second websites are most likely affiliate websites, and when you click on the “Buy” button you all at once find yourself on the merchants website.

What is happening is that the website owner is an affiliate marketer, and when you go through their website to the merchants website and make a purchase, then the affiliate marketer gets paid a commission for that sale.

We all know how important keywords are in building our web pages and websites. But just how important are keywords, particularly as they relate to the meta keyword tag. When search on the Internet was new a lot of importance was placed on the keyword meta-tag.

Today, however, the meta keyword tag is not nearly as important. More important is how we place keywords on our web page. Remember, search engines rank web pages, not websites. While each page can have a keyword meta-tag, the more important factor to consider is the use of your keywords within your content.

Again, original, relevant content on your web page will produce better results than spending a lot of time filling the keyword meta-tag with keywords.

Watch what Matt Cutts of Google thinks about the keyword meta tag:

In this video Matt Cutts talks about marketing a section of a Web page it won’t be indexed or used in the description for the search or so pages. It is interesting that note that Google does, in fact, have a way to section content on a page so that only that portion of the page is used by Google when determining what ad sense ads to show on that page.

The code sections I am referring to are these:!– google_ad_section_start –> and . Google will then use the content between these two items of code to determine which ads to show for your absence account.

In the following video Matt Cutts discusses this issue further.

When you are building your website you need to have a number of standard pages on your website. One of the reasons you want to do this is because Google and the other search engines will look at your website when they are deciding whether to index it or not and if they don’t find the appropriate pages you may have problems getting listed in the search engine results .

Following is a list of the necessary pages you need for your website:

An about us page ;

A disclaimer page;

A disclosure page;

A contact us page;

A privacy page.

Now it you may find it strange that I’ve listed the about us page as the first page. On the reason for this is that many people will look at the about us page in order to determine whether or not they are waiting to consider the information you are providing or whether they would be willing to purchase a product from you.

When you construct the about us page is important to make it as personal as possible. People like to do business with other people, not just websites on the Internet. A well-written about us page will get a fair amount of traffic and will determine how long and how often someone may visit your website.

The disclaimer page tells a visitor what the website is about, what they should expect when using the website, what information you may be collecting from them and exactly how you intend to use it. This is also the page where you will describe the terms of use between yourself and your website visitors.

If you are going to be making commissions of any kind on your website, including income from Google ad sense ads which might appear somewhere on your pages, then you need to disclose this fact in a disclosure policy. Further, if you are selling any kind of products on your website you are required to inform visitors that this is a for-profit website.

Your contact us page should provide as many options for contacting you as possible. There should be a way to reach you via e-mail, through a content box where they can make in inquiries that you can answer, how to reach you by mail and how to reach you by telephone. The more information you provide on the methods to contact you the more comfortable visitors and customers will be when using your website.

The last page on your website should be your privacy policy. Pay particular attention to this page because most people today are wary of providing personal information and want to know exactly how any information they provide you may be used.
